Generic Zantac (Ranitidine, Zantac® equivalent)
Ranitidine is in a group of medications called histamine-2 blockers. Ranitidine works by reducing the amount of acid your stomach produces. Ranitidine is used to treat and prevent ulcers in the stomach and intestines. It also treats conditions in which the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Ranitidine also treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and other conditions in which acid backs up from the stomach into the esophagus, causing heartburn.

AGE AND BEHAVIOR: INTELLIGENCE – CROSS-SECTIONAL MAJOR AND LONGITUDINAL STUDIES
In one study, people of wide age range were tested with several procedures, the main one being The Primary Mental Abilities Test (Schaie and Labouvie-Vief, 1974). They were then retested seven years later and, again, seven years afterward. In the 14-year period involving three testings, overall decline was seen only among those people aged 53 or older at the time of initial testing. Moreover, the decline was not great; it was less than seen in comparable cross-sectional studies.
A result similar to this 14-year longitudinal study, but one showing more decline, was reported with a method thought similar in principle to that of longitudinal research (Schaie, Labouvie, and Buech, 1973). Instead of testing the same people at times 1, 2, and 3 as in the longitudinal study, different people of the same cohort were tested at time 2 and still different ones at time 3. In other words, it is as if a cross-sectional study were carried out but instead of testing different age groups at one period of time, the different age groups were tested at different periods of time—the older the age group, the later in time it was tested. The results of this study (called independent measures method) were more in line with those of cross-sectional studies than they were with the longitudinal study. The reason for this, probably, is that selective subject dropout in independent measures research is not as great a problem as in longitudinal (repeated measures) research.
